FOSTERING CONNECTIONS: A Guide to Strengthening Volunteer and Foster Programs<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Created in partnership with Kristen Hassen of Outcomes for Pets, our latest resource is focused on fostering, arguably the single most important intervention to save dogs\u2019 lives by reducing length of stay and preparing dogs for adoption. The toolkit shares in-depth knowledge and insights on building a foster-centric shelter model, while offering strategies to optimize the volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and fostering process.<\/span> Read it here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Created in partnership with Kristen Hassen of Outcome for Pets, PEDIGREE Foundation shares its latest best practice toolkit, Traveling Tails: A guide to effective dog transport programs. This toolkit is a brand-new resource designed to help animal welfare professionals and anyone else who wants to learn the basics of dog transport. The Traveling Tails toolkit is filled with impactful tips to help shelters and rescue organizations establish transport programs, connect to transport networks, and ensure sustainable success. Welcome Committee: Helping Dogs Transition to the Shelter<\/strong><\/h4>\n

<\/p>\n

Created in partnership with the San Diego Humane Society, a DOGS RULE. grant recipient, \u201cWelcome Committee: Helping Dogs Transition to the Shelter\u201d delves into strategies and practices shelters can use to enhance the welfare of dogs from their very first moment in animal shelters. The Welcome Committee initiative was created to address the unique challenges faced by dogs experiencing fear, anxiety and stress in the shelter. The toolkit outlines the comprehensive approach the initiative takes, including multiple departments from Admissions and Operations Leadership to Animal care, Behavior & Training and Volunteer Engagement. Bark to Basics: Creative Adoption Ideas for Dog Adoptions<\/strong><\/h4>\n

<\/p>\n

They provide concrete, easy-to-implement ideas to get more dogs into homes faster \u2013 a recipe book of real solution that can be implemented without a lot of time or resources. In this toolkit, developed by Kristen Hassen, you\u2019ll find common practices and policies that are keeping animals stuck in shelters, easy changes you can make to speed up your dog flow, the WIRC model of customer service (welcome, inform, respect, celebrate), how to ask for and accept help, and how to get your community on board. You\u2019ll have access to examples from real-life shelters who are having adoption success, even in this difficult moment. The toolkit is designed for all levels of staff and volunteers. This toolkit provides tips to create eye-catching, current and positive personalities for adoptable animals, using visually appealing, interactive kennel cards. ComPAWtibility Match<\/strong><\/h4>\n

<\/p>\n

This toolkit highlights resources developed to enhance interactions with potential fosters and adopters, as well as existing adopters. The resources include compatibility matching quizzes, a matchmaker program, virtual home visits and adoption events, a text-based foster program, and a post-adoption support program. Virtual Foster Program<\/strong><\/h4>\n

<\/p>\n

This toolkit showcases a new program that paired dedicated volunteers with dogs who had been in a shelter for the longest time as \u201cvirtual fosters.\u201d These dogs get the benefits of a traditional foster home \u2013 like personal and consistent interaction \u2013 while still residing at the shelter.
